Dr. Prue Burns is a Lecturer in Management at RMIT University's School of Management, serving as Academic Director and course coordinator for BUSM1094 Organisations and BUSM1100 Organisations. Her research focuses on institutional change, health/social care service delivery improvement, and public policy affecting disadvantaged groups. Prior to academia, she worked in NGOs and government as a senior researcher and policy officer. Her PhD explored firms' support for former prisoners' workforce reintegration.
Research Interests include:
- Health services and systems transformation
- Criminology and prisoner reintegration
- Policy implementation in public administration
- Development studies with a focus on vulnerable populations
Recent work emphasizes knowledge translation in healthcare and organizational strategies for social good. Her publications address institutional complexity in Bangladesh governance, employer attitudes toward formerly incarcerated individuals, and cross-national healthcare innovation frameworks.
