Dr. Jiaying Zhang is a Lecturer in the School of Management at RMIT University, Australia, based at the City Campus. Her research focuses on Human Resource Management, particularly cultural aspects and human capital, as well as International Tourism Management, emphasizing cross-cultural interactions and community attitudes. She also explores applied psychology, strategy and organizational behavior, policy and administration, demography, and economics.
In teaching, she instructs undergraduate courses in tourism management, event management, international business, and organizational theory. She has coordinated offshore Work Integrated Learning (WIL) courses in Singapore. Her supervisory projects include investigating the relationship between Spirit at Work, Job Satisfaction, Organisational Commitment, and Organisational Citizenship Behaviour in Australian Higher Education, initiated in 2014. Her research has been supported by grants, such as a socio-behavioural study funded by Victorian local councils, which examined community attitudes toward tourism development and tourist-resident interactions. Outcomes of this project were published in academic journals and conference proceedings.
Her projects often address practical policy implications for organizations and governments, such as analyzing migrant professional workers in Australia and evaluating travel incentives for Chinese inbound tourists. She also contributes to transportation logistics and applied economics research.
