Priya Shete

Priya Shete is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). She serves as Co-Director of the UC TRAC Clinical & Population Health Science Core and Associate Director of the UCSF Implementation Science Training Program. Her work focuses on tuberculosis (TB) research, including implementation science to improve TB diagnostic strategies and social protection interventions to address socioeconomic barriers in TB care. She leads global projects in Uganda, Brazil, and South Africa, integrating social protection into TB programs and analyzing TB control strategies for vulnerable populations.

She is TB Team Lead at UCSF for a CDC cooperative agreement, managing models for TB elimination in California. Her roles also include WHO Technical Advisor for TB implementation research and membership in the WHO Global TB Research Task Force and SPARKs Advisory Board. Dr. Shete’s research emphasizes health equity, with projects exploring policy impacts on TB outcomes during the pandemic and the role of social determinants in healthcare access.

Her publications highlight themes like spatial modeling of health disparities, qualitative studies on TB diagnostic uptake, and evaluations of social protection policies. She has co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on TB elimination strategies, health equity, and pandemic response. Her work bridges clinical practice, policy, and global health to address systemic barriers in TB care delivery.
