Preeti Chauhan is a Professor in the Psychology Department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY) and holds the title of Distinguished Faculty Fellow for Research. She co-founded and formerly directed the Data Collaborative for Justice (DCJ), a key initiative influencing criminal justice policies nationally. She also serves on editorial boards for journals like Law and Human Behavior and Journal of Community Psychology, and sits on the Board of Directors for the New York City Criminal Justice Agency (CJA).
Education: PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Virginia, with BA and BS degrees from the University of Florida. Her pre-doctoral clinical internship was completed at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Research focuses on how policies/practices perpetuate racial/ethnic disparities in the criminal legal system. Her DCJ work has directly informed reforms in NYC, New York State, and nationally. Awards include the Feliks Gross Endowment Award and Donal E.J. McNarma Junior Faculty Award. She was also a National Academy of Sciences, Committee on Law and Justice (CLAJ) member.
Professional contributions extend to board memberships and editorial roles, emphasizing translational research between academia and policy-making.
