Stephanie Ehret is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Trent University. She holds a PhD in Criminology from the University of Ottawa, alongside a BA (hons) and MA in Criminology, Psychology, and Philosophy from the University of Toronto. Her research critically examines how the criminal legal system perpetuates gendered, raced, classed, and ableist inequalities. Current work includes a SSHRC-funded project exploring autistic adults' perceptions and experiences of the Canadian criminal justice system. She advocates for social remedies and extralegal justice frameworks, particularly regarding intimate partner violence and disability justice.

Her research interests focus on gendered violence, disability justice, and policy reform. She serves as President of the Board of Directors at the Durham Rape Crisis Centre, integrating community engagement with academic work.
Her SSHRC-funded research highlights intersections of disability and criminal justice systems. She emphasizes anti-violence interventions beyond legal frameworks, advocating for inclusive policy development.
