Elizabeth Jeglic

Dr. Elizabeth Jeglic is a Professor of Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, specializing in sexual violence prevention, child sexual abuse, and criminal justice reform. She holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Binghamton University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on sexual grooming, institutional responsibility for sexual violence prevention, and evidence-based public policy.

Dr. Jeglic has authored over 140 peer-reviewed articles and six books, including Child Sexual Grooming: Integrating Research, Practice, Prevention and Policy and Protecting Your Child from Sexual Abuse. She co-directs the Sex Offender Research Lab (SORL) and serves on editorial boards for journals like Sexual Abuse and Psychology, Public Policy and Law.

Her honors include the Fay Honey Knopp Award and multiple mentoring accolades from John Jay College and the American Psychological Association. Dr. Jeglic is a licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey, fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Slovenian. She actively mentors students across undergraduate and graduate programs, emphasizing their involvement in research.

Her work bridges clinical practice and policy, addressing issues like sex offender registries, cognitive behavioral therapy for justice-involved populations, and youth suicide prevention. She frequently consults with media and policymakers on sexual violence prevention strategies and trauma-informed approaches.
