Dr. Prajjwal Panday serves as Associate Professor of Environmental Science at Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts. His academic journey includes a Ph.D. from Clark University's Graduate School of Geography, M.S. from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and B.S. in Chemistry/Environmental Studies from St. Lawrence University. Previously, he taught multiple geography courses at Clark University including Weather and Climate, Arctic Systems Science, and Water-Climate-Society.
His research examines climate-land-water interactions through integrated environmental modeling, with field sites spanning the rapidly changing Himalayas and Amazon Basin. Key methodologies combine satellite remote sensing, field observations, and process-based modeling to investigate hydrological cycle components, forest degradation mechanisms, and glacier dynamics under climate change.
Dr. Panday's publication record reveals strong focus on tropical and mountainous hydro-climatology, with recurring themes of climate change impacts, deforestation effects, and cryospheric processes. His work demonstrates sophisticated integration of multi-source data to address complex environmental systems questions.
- Contributing Author, IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (2022)
- Research collaborations with City of Worcester watershed organizations
- Active field studies in Himalayan glaciers and Amazon Basin
As an educator, he teaches core environmental science courses while developing specialized offerings in sustainable management and statistical modeling. His research program bridges fundamental climate science with applied water resource management, maintaining strong connections between his Himalayan/Amazon fieldwork and local Massachusetts watershed initiatives.
