Po-Yin Yen, PhD, RN, FACMI, FAMIA, FAAN, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Medicine & Geriatrics and an Associate Professor at the Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College, Washington University in St. Louis. She holds affiliations with the Institute of Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS), Institute for Informatics, Data Science and Biostatistics (I2DB), and the Center for Applied Health Informatics (CAHI). Her research focuses on health information technology (HIT) usability, human-computer interaction, and bridging clinical informatics research with practice. She received the 2014 Mentor Award from Sigma Theta Tau International and was named an ANI Emerging Leader in 2016.
Her work emphasizes applied clinical informatics, including the design of user-friendly HIT systems, nursing workflow studies, and the implementation of clinical decision support tools. Recent publications highlight advancements in visual analytics for document retrieval, AI-driven systematic reviews, and sustainable mHealth app development. Yen actively mentors PhD/MSTP students and advocates for informatics training in health professions education.
