Platon Petridis is a Professor of Byzantine Archaeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), leading the Department of History and Archaeology's Archaeology and History of Art section. He serves as Director of the NKUA Museum of Archaeology and Art History. Educated at the University of Athens and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (MA 1990, PhD 1995), his career includes teaching positions at the University of Crete, French universities, and the Greek Open University. He has directed excavations at Delphi, Thassos, and Kapandriti, with the Thassos project winning the 2017 Grand Prix d’Archéologie. His research focuses on Early Byzantine material culture, urbanism, pottery production, and digital humanities.

- Notable Achievements: First non-French member of the French School of Archaeology at Athens (1996), author of three books and numerous articles.

He advises UNESCO and serves on boards like the P. & A. Kanellopoulos Museum and the Benaki Museum’s Artistic Committee. His excavations and publications reshape understanding of Delphi and Thassos’ post-Classical periods.
