Michel Roggenbucke

MICHEL ROGGENBUCKE is a Lecturer in Archaeological Conservation at the Department of History and Archaeology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He holds a BA from the Department of Conservation of Antiquities (1994), an MA in Museum Studies (2014), and a PhD in Classical Archaeology (2023), focusing on archaeometallurgical studies of iron artifacts from the Cave of Zeus excavations. As a member of the Laboratory Teaching Staff since 2009, he leads the Conservation Unit of the Museum of Archaeology and History of Art, established in 2010. His roles include artifact conservation, teaching, and advancing museum education through innovative practices.

His work bridges laboratory analysis (e.g., SEM studies of pottery) and field practices, as seen in projects like the Livari Cemetery and Cave of Zeus excavations.

Publications highlight interdisciplinary approaches, such as the role of university museums in education and the technological analysis of prehistoric metalworking. His PhD research provides foundational insights into early iron production in Greece.

He has advised on museum exhibitions, conservation protocols, and heritage management strategies, contributing to both academic and public engagement with archaeological materials.
