Dr Piers Dixon is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Stirling, associated with the AH Management and Support Team. He holds affiliations with the Cultural Heritage Research programmes and Environment, Heritage & Policy groups. His research focuses on medieval settlements, castles, and landscape archaeology.
Education: Graduated in Archaeology and History from Cardiff University (1975), earned a doctorate in 1985 on 'The Deserted Medieval Villages of North Northumberland'. Professional roles include Director of the Border Burghs Archaeology Project (1983–1988), and Deputy Head of Survey at Historic Environment Scotland (2016–2018). He joined the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland in 1989.
