Pierre-Yann Dolbec is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Concordia University's John Molson School of Business (JMSB). He serves as a thesis supervisor for Marketing (MSc) and Business Administration (PhD) programs, with expertise in markets and culture, institutional dynamics, consumer participation, innovation, taste, and technology.
Dr. Dolbec's research tackles complex market questions, examining how public organizations respond to market pressures, how organizations can contribute to society while satisfying shareholder interests, and how consumers reshape markets. His current research projects investigate markets for coffee, tattoos, sneakers, fashion, music, transportation, microdosing, and education, as well as social projects in Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia. Based on his students' theses, he also examines digital influence and online influencers, and the acculturation of wealthy consumers.
His scholarly work has been published in top journals including Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Marketing, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Retailing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and International Journal of Research in Marketing. His research has received distinctions such as most cited and most downloaded papers, and has been featured in media outlets including National Post, Channel News Asia, CTV News, Global TV, CBC & Radio-Canada, Journal de Montreal, Les Affaires, and Le Devoir.

He serves on the editorial review board of Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Advertising Research, and Recherche Appliquée en Marketing (RAM). He mentors at academic conferences and supervises master's and doctoral students.
