Pierre Antoine Chardel is a Professor of Social Sciences and Ethics at Institut Mines-Télécom Business School (IMT-BS), with affiliations at New York University (NYU) and Sciences Po's MédiaLab. He holds an HDR (Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches) from EHESS, a PhD in Philosophy from Université Laval, and multiple M.A. degrees in Philosophy and History from Paris X and EHESS.

His research centers on the ethical and socio-political challenges of digital technologies in hypermodern societies. He examines topics like privacy erosion, surveillance globalization, and the ethical reconfiguration of organizational and societal structures. His recent publications analyze trust degradation in fluid societies, digital fragmentation of collective identity, and virtual networks' power dynamics.
Chardel co-founded the "Valeurs et politiques des informations personnelles" research chair at Institut Mines-Télécom and contributes to editorial boards of journals like Hermès and Etudes digitales. He teaches interdisciplinary research projects, doctoral seminars, and socio-philosophical approaches to hypermodernity at IMT-BS, while serving on strategic councils for institutions such as Cigref and ESAD Reims.
