Dr. Pia Nordblom is a Researcher in History at the Department of History, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since 2003. Her academic journey includes a doctorate from Heidelberg University (1995) and research roles at Heidelberg University (1996–2002). She has held visiting positions at Middelbury College (USA, 2012–2013) and the University of Jyväskylä (2022). Her research focuses on the history of Rhineland-Palatinate, Palatinate regional history since the 19th century, economic history, borderland living environments, and resistance studies. Nordblom has contributed to numerous collaborative projects, including the DFG Research Group 2973 (2022–2023) on women’s academicization. She is the author/ editor of works such as *Breaking Free: Academicization of Female Professions* (2024) and *Transformationen, Krisen, Zukunftserwartungen* (2021). Her publications span studies on Franco-German relations, Nazi-era wine policies, and transnational resistance movements.
