Phyllis Richardson is a Lecturer in English and Creative Writing at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she serves as Convenor and tutor on the Foundation Year of the Integrated Degree. She holds a BA (Honours) from the University of California, Los Angeles (1987) and an MA in Anglo-American Literature from University College London (1993). Her research explores the intersection of architecture and built environments with fictional narratives, emphasizing how spatial design influences storytelling in British literature.
Richardson has authored numerous books, including House of Fiction (2017), which examines iconic houses in British literature, and Superlight (2014), focusing on innovative lightweight architectural designs. Her work spans topics like sacred spaces (New Sacred Architecture, 2004), eco-friendly small dwellings (XS Green, 2007), and experimental urban housing (Nano House, 2011).
In 2015, she received an Arts Council England grant supporting her research on House of Fiction. Her teaching and writing highlight interdisciplinary connections between literature, architecture, and urban studies, contributing to both academic and public discourse on creative spaces.
