Professor Phyllis Moore, holding the Ray Beagle Endowed Chair of Liberal Arts and serving as Program Head of Creative Writing at the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI), is a distinguished author of the short story collection A Compendium of Skirts. Her work has been shortlisted for Best American Short Stories and the Pushcart Prize, and she has received multiple grants from the Florida and Illinois Arts Councils.

- Prior Roles: Former co-chair of the MFA in Writing Program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Moore’s research and teaching focus on Creative Writing and English Literature, with a specialization in short fiction and poetry. She has curated courses like Magical Realist Fiction and Shakespeare in Translation, and has directed seven study abroad programs in France and Hungary.
