Barbara Hamby is a Senior Lecturer and Distinguished University Scholar in the Department of English at Florida State University. She holds a MA from Florida State University (1981) and specializes in poetry and fiction. Her work has been widely published in prestigious journals including The New Yorker, Poetry, and The Paris Review, and she has authored six poetry collections and a short story collection. Hamby's accolades include a 2010 Guggenheim Fellowship and multiple literary prizes for her poetry. She co-edited the anthology Seriously Funny and has served as a prominent figure in American contemporary poetry and creative writing.

Research Interests: Hamby's creative and scholarly work explores the intersections of personal narrative, mythological retellings, and contemporary social themes.
