Phillip Young

Phillip Young is a Lecturer in Music and Piano faculty member at Pomona College since 2001, and Chair of Keyboard Studies at Pasadena City College. As an acclaimed soloist and chamber musician, he has performed globally in venues spanning Carnegie Hall (New York), Salzburg, Paris, and Cape Town.

• Education: Master of Music (MM) from Peabody Conservatory, Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from University of Southern California

Research/Expertise: Focuses on piano performance, chamber music collaboration, and pedagogy. His international performance history and teaching engagements reflect a career bridging academic instruction with professional artistry.

Awards & Fellowships: Recognized with fellowships at prestigious institutions including Tanglewood Music Center, Aspen Music Festival, and Mozarteum. Received the PCC Outstanding Lecture/Performance Award for his teaching excellence.

Teaching & Outreach: Has conducted masterclasses at Shanghai Conservatory, universities in California and Oklahoma, and maintains a dual role in higher education institutions across Southern California.
