He leads the GAU-Radioanalytical laboratory and directs the NNUF-EXACT facility. With over 30 years' experience, his expertise spans commercial radioanalytical operations, nuclear waste characterization, and environmental radiochemistry. He has collaborated with the nuclear industry, government agencies, and academic sectors. His research focuses on radionuclide analysis, marine environmental processes, and nuclear forensics.
Education & Career: Began at UKAEA Winfrith, joined University of Southampton in 1994. Held a two-year secondment managing the Environment Agency’s environmental monitoring program for England and Wales.
Research Interests: Analytical radiochemistry, mass spectrometry of radionuclides, marine radionuclide dispersion, nuclear waste remediation, and contaminated land assessment strategies. His work includes developing novel extractants, sensors, and remediation technologies.
Publications: Over 20 peer-reviewed articles from 2022–2024, emphasizing radionuclide analysis, environmental remediation, and marine carbon dynamics. Notable journals include Applied Radiation and Isotopes and Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts.
Awards & Roles: Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Commissioning Editor for Applied Radiation & Isotopes, and ISO/TC 147/SC 3 member. Active as a reviewer and speaker at international conferences.
Grants & Collaborations: Secured EPSRC funding for NNUF-EXACT and projects on nuclear waste characterization. Collaborated with The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on emerging contaminants in marine environments.
Labs & Teams: Oversees the GAU-Radioanalytical lab and NNUF-EXACT facility, fostering interdisciplinary research in analytical and environmental radiochemistry.
