Phillip Shon is a Professor of Criminology at Ontario Tech University, cross-appointed with the Program of History of Science, Medicine, and Technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an M.A. in Linguistics, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Northeastern Illinois University.
His research specializes in parricide, intrafamily homicide, and language dynamics in police-citizen encounters. Shon's scholarly work bridges criminological theory with linguistic analysis to examine violent crime and institutional interactions.
He teaches courses in criminological theory, homicide studies, and academic writing methodologies at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
