Philip Roscoe is Professor of Management at the University of St Andrews, where he serves as Director of Research for the School of Management. His research focuses on the sociology of markets and finance, examining how market innovations and 'market thinking' organize society. Key themes include the cultural economy of markets, financial market ethics, and the role of fiction in shaping market futures.
His recent publications include How to Build a Stock Exchange (2023) and contributions to the 2024 edited volume Market Studies: Mapping, Theorizing and Impacting Market Action. He has held visiting fellowships at the Australian National University and CAPAS Heidelberg, and advocates for participatory, impactful scholarship that bridges academic research with public discourse.
