Professor Cynthia A. Williams is affiliated with Indiana University as the Roscoe C. O'Byrne Chair in the Maurer School of Law's Department of Law. Her academic career spans institutions including Osgoode Hall Law School (Osler Chair in Business Law) and the University of Illinois College of Law, with prior legal practice at Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
- Education: University of California, Berkeley (BA, 1981); New York University (JD, 1989).
Research Interests focus on interdisciplinary legal studies, integrating securities law, corporate governance, and regulatory theory with insights from anthropology, economic sociology, and organizational psychology. She explores how labor, finance, and capitalism intersect in corporate structures.
Scientific Awards include the prestigious Roscoe C. O'Byrne Chair, highlighting her expertise in business and corporate law.
Policy Engagement extends to the Network for Sustainable Financial Markets, Climate Bonds Initiative, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Environmental Finance Advisory Board. She has also taught internationally in China, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, the UK, and across Canada and the U.S.
