Dr. Philip Murray is a College Assistant Professor in Law and Affiliated Lecturer in Law at Robinson College, University of Cambridge. He holds a MA and PhD (Cantab). His research focuses on English public law, particularly the history of administrative law from the 17th century to present. His PhD on 19th-century judicial review processes won the Yorke Prize and has been cited by the High Court of Australia and UK government reviews. His work bridges administrative law, constitutional law, legal history, and Roman law.
Research interests include judicial review dynamics, error of law review, and the evolution of public law adjudication. Recent publications address ouster clauses in the context of the Upper Tribunal and Illegal Migration Act 2023. He contributes to the Centre for English Legal History (CELH) and Centre for Public Law (CPL). His 2024 articles explore doctrinal foundations of administrative law and constitutional perspectives, reflecting his expertise in legal history and modern public law challenges.
Scientific Awards include the Yorke Prize for doctoral research.
