Professor Philip Calder is a leading academic in Nutritional Immunology at the University of Southampton, where he serves as Head of the School of Human Development and Health. His work focuses on fatty acid metabolism, immune function, and the role of nutrition in health across the life course. He holds academic leadership roles, including President of the Federation of European Nutrition Societies (2019–2023) and former Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Nutrition.
Research interests span omega-3 fatty acids, dietary interventions for chronic diseases, and translational studies linking nutrition to immunological outcomes.
