معرفی
Philip Burrows is Professor of Physics at the University of Oxford and Director of the John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science, currently serving as General Trustee on the IOP Council (2021-2025). His 35-year career spans experimental particle physics and advanced accelerator development, including leadership roles at CERN and MIT's Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.
His educational credentials include:
- BA (Hons) in Physics, University of Oxford (1985)
- DPhil in Particle Physics, University of Oxford (1988)
Research focuses on ultra-fast beam control systems for relativistic particle accelerators, driving energy-frontier electron-positron colliders to investigate Higgs boson properties and physics beyond the Standard Model. Early career work centered on strong nuclear force interactions and quantum chromodynamics validation.
Key honors and recognitions:
- PPARC Advanced Fellowship
- Fellow of the Institute of Physics (CPhys FInstP)
- Fellow of the American Physical Society
Additional appointments include Senior Research Fellow at Jesus College, Oxford and Guest Professor to CERN's Director General (2017-2019), reflecting sustained leadership in accelerator science infrastructure development.
