Phil Abraham is a distinguished Belgian jazz trombonist and educator currently serving as trombone faculty at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, National Conservatory of Metz, and National Conservatory of Douai. With a career spanning over five decades, he has performed on more than eighty albums including thirteen as bandleader, and remains active in both performance and pedagogy across Europe.
His musical education began with classical piano, guitar, and harmony studies before his self-taught mastery of jazz trombone. Abraham's artistic evolution mirrors jazz history itself, transitioning from traditional forms to modern solo work while maintaining deep roots in the genre's development.
Abraham's primary artistic focus centers on Jazz performance and pedagogy, with significant contributions to Classical Music interpretation, Contemporary Music Theatre, Early Music revival, and specialized Music Education techniques. His expertise particularly shines in vocal improvisation and rhythmic theory, reflected in his longstanding teaching positions across major European conservatories.
