معرفی
Dr. Peying Fong is a Professor of Physiology at the Department of Anatomy and Physiology, Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her research focuses on membrane transport proteins and their roles in epithelial physiology, particularly in thyroid function and cystic fibrosis pathophysiology.
- Education: BS in Biology from Yale University; PhD in Physiology from University of California, San Francisco
- Affiliations: Center for Epithelial Research, Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics Graduate Group, Johnson Cancer Research Center
Her work examines interactions between MDR/ABC and SLC family transporters, with emphasis on how SLC26A3 and SLC5A8 affect tumor suppression. She employs electrophysiological, biochemical, and molecular approaches in porcine models and Xenopus oocyte expression systems.
Recent publications highlight her investigations into CLC chloride transporters, lysosomal ion homeostasis, and viral impacts on membrane transport. Her lab's methodologies include Ussing chamber electrophysiology, immunoblotting, and confocal microscopy.
Scientific Recognition
- NIH R15 & R21 Grants
- COBRE Funding
- Johnson Cancer Research Center Awards
- American Heart Association Support
- Fellow of The Physiological Society
- Senior Editor at The Journal of Physiology
Dr. Fong teaches renal and gastrointestinal physiology to veterinary students and directs graduate programs in Anatomy and Physiology. Her research bridges veterinary medicine, molecular biology, and cancer research through transport protein studies.
