Professor Peter Wells CBE (1936–2017) was a pioneering figure in medical ultrasound and medical physics. He held the position of Distinguished Research Professor at Cardiff University from 2011, and previously served as Professor of Physics and Engineering in Medicine at Bristol University (2000–2004). His academic roles included Chief Physicist at United Bristol Healthcare NHS Trust and Professor of Medical Physics at the Welsh National School of Medicine.
