Peter Shanhun is a Lecturer in Music Education at the School of Education, Edith Cowan University. With over 20 years of teaching experience across K-12 systems in Western Australia, he specializes in Classroom Music, Voice instruction, and Choir direction. He held leadership roles, including President of the Kodály Music Education Institute of Australia (WA Branch, 2016–2017) and completed a Master of Arts in Kodály Music Pedagogy at the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Academy (Hungary, 2019). His qualifications include a BMus Education with First Class Honours from The University of Western Australia (2001) and Professional Equivalence from ECU (2024).

Awards include the Sarolta Kodály Scholarship (2016) and Rupert Thackeray Prize in Music Education (2000). Current teaching responsibilities span undergraduate and postgraduate courses such as Teaching Music in Secondary Schools and Music Education Foundations.
