Peter Pfeiffer is a Professor and Chair of the Department of German at Georgetown University's College of Arts & Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in German literature and has taught at the University of Iowa and University of Houston before joining Georgetown in 1991. His interdisciplinary research spans 19th-20th century German literature, cultural studies on national identity, and biological sciences. He authored a monograph on Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach and explores contemporary authors like W.G. Sebald and Dieter Forte. His long-term projects include studies on death, literacy, aesthetics, and economic concepts in 19th-century Germany.
