Professor Peter MacCallum is a clinical academic at Queen Mary University of London and an honorary consultant haematologist at Barts Health NHS Trust. He leads the thrombosis service at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London Hospitals, specializing in venous thromboembolism (VTE), cancer-associated thrombosis, and coagulation disorders. His research focuses on personalized VTE management, cancer-related thrombosis pathways, and thrombotic complications of medical conditions like COVID-19 and vaccine-induced thrombosis with thrombocytopenia.
He has led major studies including the ORANGE registry (bleeding outcomes on oral anticoagulants) and contributed to the GARFIELD-VTE global registry. His future plans involve collaborations on cancer-related coagulation pathways, addressing a significant mortality burden in cancer patients.
