معرفی
Peter Lansdorp is a Professor of Biology of Ageing (Endowed Chair) at the University of Groningen and Scientific Director of the European Research Institute for the Biology of Ageing (ERIBA). He also holds a Professorship in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia and is a Distinguished Scientist at the Terry Fox Laboratory, BC Cancer Agency. His primary research focuses on telomeres, genome stability, and stem cell biology in the context of aging.
Education: MD from Erasmus University Rotterdam (1970–1976), PhD in Immunobiology from CLB (now Sanquin), Amsterdam (1979–1985).
Research interests include telomere dynamics, genomic stability, gene expression regulation, and chromatin replication. His work bridges fundamental biology with clinical implications, particularly in cancer and aging. Over 35 years, his studies have explored telomere length regulation, asymmetric DNA segregation in stem cells, and telomerase function in health and disease.
Notable articles highlight advancements in telomere measurement techniques (e.g., flow FISH), mechanisms of telomere dysfunction in cancer, and foundational insights into stem cell biology.
- Awards include the ERC Advanced Grant (2011), Royal Society of Canada Fellowship (2013), and UBC Killam Research Prize (2007).
- His career spans academic and research leadership roles, including visiting professorships at the University of Edinburgh and the Institute for Stem Cell Research in Edinburgh.
- Labs/Teams: Leads ERIBA and collaborates with the Terry Fox Laboratory, advancing interdisciplinary aging research.
