Peter Jomo Walla

Prof. Dr. Peter Jomo Walla is a Professor of Biomolecular Spectroscopy and Single-Molecule Detection at Technische Universität Braunschweig, Germany, and a research group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences (formerly Biophysical Chemistry). His research focuses on biophysical chemistry, light-harvesting systems, and membrane interactions. Walla holds a Ph.D. and Diploma in Physical Chemistry from the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen. He has authored over 100 publications, including works in Nature Communications, PNAS, and Chemical Physics. His group develops advanced optical techniques like fluorescence nanoscopy and membrane distance rulers, with applications in photosynthesis, solar energy conversion, and neurobiology.
