معرفی
Prof. Dr. Peter J. Walla is a Professor of Biophysical Chemistry at TU Braunschweig and holds a joint appointment at the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen. His research focuses on biomolecular processes, including light-harvesting systems in photosynthesis, ultrafast spectroscopy, and single-molecule microscopy. He has received multiple awards, including the Heising Simons Fellowship and grants from the German Science Foundation.
- Education: Ph.D. (2001) and Diploma (1998) in Physical Chemistry from TU Göttingen and Max-Planck Institute, postdocs at UC Berkeley and CNRS Bordeaux.
Research Interests: His work bridges biophysics and nanotechnology, particularly energy transfer mechanisms in natural and synthetic systems. He develops novel microscopy techniques and biomimetic materials for solar energy applications. Recent advancements include luminescent solar concentrators and ultrafast energy-funneling materials.
Awards: Highlights include the 2018 Heising Simons Fellowship and Emmy-Noether Grant (2003). His lab also mentors doctoral students like Paul Gäbler and Franka Gädeke, who received prestigious scholarships.
Advising & Grants: Supervises PhD/Master’s students and has secured grants for light-harvesting research. Collaborates on projects like energy funneling in nanomaterials and membrane fusion mechanisms.
Labs & Teams: Leads the Biophysical Chemistry AG Walla at TU Braunschweig, focusing on interdisciplinary research in microscopy and ultrafast laser physics. Active in training early-career scientists through grants and international collaborations.
