Peter Hyland, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Physics & Astronomy at Cottey College. He holds a B.S. from Case Western Reserve University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. His research focuses on cryogenic detectors for astrophysical experiments and physics education, particularly investigating how women develop identities as physicists. He has worked at institutions including Case Western Reserve University, McGill University, MIT’s Teaching and Learning Lab, and Austin College. Currently based in Grantham Hall (office 102), he specializes in astrophysics, detector systems, and educational initiatives.
