Peter Fitch is a Professor of Theology & Culture and Associate Dean of Theology & Culture at St. Stephen’s University in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada. He holds a DMin from Fuller Theological Seminary (1998), an M.Div. (honors) from Denver Seminary (1978), and a BA (summa cum laude) in Biblical Studies from Bethel University (1975). He also studied at Faculté de Théologie de Yaoundé, Cameroun, and the University of Western Ontario.
His academic work focuses on the History of Christian Spirituality and 'Honest Church History,' emphasizing critical engagement with historical Christian thought and practice. He has taught globally, including at Westminster Theological Centre in the UK (2008–2014), and led study groups across Western Europe and the Middle East. His research explores themes like suffering, resilience, biblical interpretation, and communal wisdom-building.
Professionally, he founded and led the Ministry Studies program at SSU for 25 years (until 2019) and co-planted St. Croix Vineyard Church (now St. Croix Church) in 1992, serving as pastoral leader until 2022. Beyond academia, he maintains a passion for classical and folk guitar, having developed a music business during SSU’s early years.
