Beth Stovell is Professor of Old Testament at Ambrose University. Her scholarship bridges academic rigor with church application, focusing on Biblical Hebrew poetry, hermeneutics, Johannine theology, and the use of Old Testament in New Testament. She actively contributes to denominational ministry through Vineyard Canada's national team while maintaining a 25-year history in church leadership.
- PhD (McMaster Divinity College), MCS (Regent College), BA (University of Texas)
- Current projects include multiple commentaries on Minor Prophets, Ezekiel, and John's Gospel
- Key research areas: Biblical metaphors, suffering/comfort theology, interdisciplinary taxonomy
Her recent publications in Perspectives on Science and Christian Faith and International Journal of Public Theology demonstrate engagement with both theological and social scientific disciplines. Notably, her 2022 interdisciplinary work with Matthew Morris connects biological taxonomy with biblical naming theology.
Stovell's teaching portfolio includes OT 502 Pentateuch and BT 633/634 courses on suffering, hope, and Johannine studies. She maintains active collaboration with David Fuller on biblical hermeneutics while contributing to Christian pedagogy through Didaktikos Journal.
