Professor Peter Edge is a Professor of Law at the School of Law and Social Sciences, Oxford Brookes University. He holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts (FRSA) and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). His research focuses on small jurisdictions' legal systems, particularly the Isle of Man, and the intersection of law and religion. He has advised institutions like Tynwald and contributed to constitutional reforms. Known for supervising over 25 PhD students, he teaches criminal law, equity, and legal research methods.
Key research interests include public law of small democracies, religious freedom, and commercial religion. His work on Manx law influenced the UK's REF2021 Impact Case Study. Awards include the UCM Honorary Fellowship (2020). He has held grants from ESRC, AHRC, and the British Academy. Recent publications explore political culture in small jurisdictions, pandemic governance, and constitutional reform.
