Mark C. Rahdert is a Professor at the Beasley School of Law, Temple University, where he has served since 1984. His academic roles include former I. Herman Stern Professor of Law (1995–1998), Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (1999–2003), and Charles Klein Professor of Law and Government (2008–2013). An award-winning scholar, his expertise spans constitutional law, comparative constitutional law, torts, federal jurisdiction, religious freedom, and appellate advocacy. He is frequently sought for media commentary on Supreme Court decisions, tort reform, and legal policy.
Education: J.D. from Yale Law School (where he was Note Editor for the Yale Law Journal) and A.B. (summa cum laude) from Harvard University. His teaching includes courses on Political & Civil Rights, Federal Jurisdiction, Freedom of Religion, Products Liability, and Federal Indian Law.
Research focuses on comparative constitutional interpretation, executive power limits, and standing doctrine. His work has appeared in leading journals like the Catholic University Law Review and Cardozo Law Review. He has contributed commentary to the National Law Journal and Chronicle of Higher Education.
University leadership includes serving as President of the Temple University Faculty Senate (2013–2014). He previously clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun and Judge Murray I. Gurfein of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and practiced law at Dechert Price & Rhoads in Philadelphia.
