Andrew Siegel is a Professor of Law at Seattle University School of Law, where he has held leadership roles including Academic Dean (2020–2023) and Associate Dean for Planning and Strategic Initiatives (2014–2017). He previously taught at the University of South Carolina School of Law and clerked for Justice John Paul Stevens of the U.S. Supreme Court and Judge Pierre N. Leval of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Education: BA in History (summa cum laude, Yale University, 1993), MA in History (Princeton University, 1997), JD (summa cum laude, NYU School of Law, 1999). He served as an Executive Editor of the NYU Law Review and ranked first in his NYU law class.
Research focuses on constitutional theory, Supreme Court analysis, and American legal history. Key interests include judicial behavior, constitutional culture, and the intersection of law and social movements. He co-authored THE SUPREME COURT SOURCEBOOK and contributes frequently to SCOTUSblog.
Recent articles engage with student dress restrictions, federal-state jurisdictional disputes, and the Roberts Court's impact on marginalized groups. His work emphasizes the moral responsibilities of constitutional courts and critiques judicial hostility to litigation.
