Prof. Peter E. Pormann is a Professor of Classics & Graeco-Arabic Studies at the University of Manchester. His work focuses on the transmission of Greek medical and scientific knowledge into the Islamic world, using digital technologies to study ancient texts. He holds a D.Phil from the University of Oxford and has taught at multiple institutions.
Research interests include late antique Alexandria, Greek-Syriac-Arabic translation techniques, history of mental illness, and the recovery of lost texts via imaging.
