Gregor Vetterlein is a Researcher at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin's Department of Classics within the Faculty of Language, Literature and Humanities. He is affiliated with the DFG-funded project on Galen's Commentary on the Hippocratic Aphorisms. His work focuses on classical philology and ancient medical texts.
Education:
- MA in Classical Archaeology and Greek Philology (2007) from Universities of Leipzig, Würzburg, Freiburg, Basel, Rome (Tor Vergata), and Edinburgh
- MEng in Energy and Automation Systems (2016) from HTW and BHT Berlin
- BEng in Electrical Engineering (2013) from HTW and BHT Berlin
Research Interests: Galen's medical commentaries, Hippocratic texts, Greek manuscript traditions, and the history of classical philology.
Awards:
- Butcher Memorial Prize in Ancient Greek (Edinburgh)
- Baldwin Brown Travelling Scholarship in Classical Archaeology (Edinburgh)
Teaching: Leads undergraduate tutorials in Classical Archaeology. Participates in reading groups on ancient medicine and science history.
Current Projects: Critical edition of Galen's third book of the Hippocratic Aphorisms commentary, collaborating with experts Dr. Giulia Ecca, Dr. Christina Savino, and Maria Börno.
