Peter Denney is Associate Professor of History at Griffith University's School of Humanities, Languages and Social Science. He holds a PhD from the University of York and previously served as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Sydney.
Research Interests: His interdisciplinary work spans the literature and history of Britain in the long eighteenth century, focusing on landscape, class, popular politics, emotions, and sensory history. He explores topics like plebeian poetry, colonial soundscapes, and radical print culture.
Publication Trends: His recent work emphasizes auditory history, examining sound's role in political, religious, and colonial contexts. Themes include sensory engagement in Enlightenment discourse, emotional registers in liberalism, and intersections of environment and literature.
