Peter Dauvergne is Professor of International Relations at the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Arts, University of British Columbia. He specializes in global environmental politics, focusing on the intersections of corporate power, technology, consumption, and social movements, particularly their impacts on the Global South.
- Associate Dean (2006-08), Senior Adviser to the President (2008-09), and Director of the Liu Institute for Global Issues (2009-14)

His research explores how corporate and technological forces shape sustainability governance, with a focus on plastics, AI, deforestation, and global health partnerships. He has supervised over 40 PhD and MA students, including Leah Shipton, Justin Alger, and Jennifer Allan, many of whom hold academic or policy positions globally.
Recent publications analyze the Global Plastics Treaty dynamics, AI's role in sustainability, and corporate social responsibility in mining. His work has received multiple awards, including the 2017 Michael Harrington Book Award for Environmentalism of the Rich and the 1998 Sprout Award for Shadows in the Forest.
