Notable contributions include analyses of China's development finance in Africa and the dynamics of the UN plastics treaty negotiations. He has been awarded the Global Policy Institute's Outstanding Thesis Prize (2021) and was Highly Commended in QUB's 2024 Teaching Awards.
Research Trends: His recent work emphasizes the tension between corporate power and high-ambition environmental governance, the evolving role of non-state actors in development, and critiques of neoliberal frameworks in the face of resurgent state capitalism. Articles often bridge theoretical debates in political economy with empirical case studies (e.g., plastics treaty negotiations, Sino-African development finance).
