Dr Antaya March is a Research Fellow and Senior Research Associate at the University of Portsmouth, affiliated with the Faculty of Business and Law, Revolution Plastics Institute, and Centre for Blue Governance. She leads the Global Plastics Policy Centre, focusing on socio-economic solutions to plastic pollution and sustainable blue economy governance. Her work includes designing policy evaluation frameworks for international agencies and supporting UN negotiations for the Global Plastics Treaty. March holds a PhD in Blue Economy and Marine Policy from the University of Portsmouth, with prior roles in marine conservation field research and consultancy for organizations like the World Bank and UN agencies.
Her research spans plastic policy design, blue governance, marine protected areas, and equitable resource management. Key projects include the UNEP Transition Framework for the Sustainable Blue Economy and tools for fisheries and waste management in Small Island Developing States. March advises governments on policy integration for climate, plastics, and economic development, emphasizing evidence-based decision-making and stakeholder inclusion.
Her articles address topics like Pacific coastal resource economics, Caribbean blue economy financing, and the world's first sovereign blue bond. She has received recognition for her contributions to policy research and holds a strong media presence for science communication.
