Peter Cheung is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University (SFU) and a Research Associate at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BCCfE) at Providence Health Care in Vancouver. His expertise spans molecular biology, cell biology, and virology, with a focus on HIV-1 antiretroviral drug resistance and novel antiviral drug development. Since 2017, he has also served as the biosafety officer for BCCfE laboratories.
Education: PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of British Columbia (2002), followed by postdoctoral research at BC Cancer Agency on proteomics in prostate carcinogenesis.
Research interests emphasize translational virology, drug resistance mechanisms, and laboratory safety protocols. His work contributes to both academic and clinical advancements in HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention.
Labs/Teams: Active member of the BCCfE research group, collaborating on projects related to HIV pathogenesis and drug discovery.
