Peter Anderson

Peter Anderson is an Associate Professor in the College of Science and Engineering with extensive research activity spanning plant biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology. His work focuses on agricultural applications with strong relevance to global food security challenges.

Research Interests

Dr. Anderson's primary research centers on the structural and biochemical basis of the plant immune system and iron/zinc biofortification of rice through transgenic approaches. He applies expertise in plant immune response and hypersensitive response assays in tobacco to evaluate how hardwood pyrolysis extracts can mitigate oxidative damage from environmental stressors including heat, drought, and frost. His research directly contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to zero hunger and climate action.
