Peter A. Warnek is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Oregon, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. His research spans two primary domains: ancient Greek philosophy and 19th-20th century continental philosophy, with a focus on Kant and the interplay between logos, affect, and human agency.
His current projects include a commentary on Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics and a monograph What Calls For Responsibility?, which redefines responsibility as an original event preceding freedom. His work challenges traditional interpretations of ethical and metaphysical concepts.
Recent publications highlight his engagement with Schelling, Heidegger, Nietzsche, and Plato, exploring themes like diabolical evil, monstrous truth, and the elemental nature of tragedy. These works reflect his interdisciplinary approach, bridging classical and modern thought.
Teaching areas include the history of philosophy (Pre-Socratics to Derrida), metaphysics, philosophy of religion, art, and medicine. He is active in research and academic discourse but no awards, students, or lab affiliations are documented here.
