Dr. Daniel Wolt is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey). He holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University (2016) and previously served as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of São Paulo. His research focuses on ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, particularly ethics, and modern philosophy (Kant and Nietzsche). He is currently working on a book about nobility in ancient Greek ethics and its connections to later thinkers like Nietzsche.

Research Interests: Dr. Wolt’s work bridges ancient and modern philosophy. He explores themes in Aristotle’s ethics (e.g., kalokagathia, voluntary action), Nietzsche’s engagement with Greek pessimism, and Kantian theories of free will. His publications analyze texts such as Eudemian Ethics, Nicomachean Ethics, and Nietzsche’s critiques of Schopenhauerian pessimism.
Publications: His articles appear in journals like Inquiry, British Journal for the History of Philosophy, and Journal of the History of Philosophy. Recent work includes interpretations of Julian the Apostate’s political philosophy and debates over Aristotle’s Magna Moralia’s authenticity.
Academic Engagement: He co-leads reading groups on Plato and Merleau-Ponty at Bilkent and organizes events like PhilFest. His contributions extend to public philosophy initiatives like Lykeion (philosophy for high schoolers).
